Gary and Irene Kart of Hoschton announce the engagement of their daughter Brittany Jennifer Lauren Kart to Nicholas John Furdyn, son of Theodore and Nancy Furdynof Catawissa, Pa.The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jean Kart and the late Martin Kart of Riverhead, N.Y., and the late Henry Schipf II and Dorothy Schipf of Patchogue, N.Y.

She is a 2003 graduate of Parkview High School in Lilburn. She is currently attending the University of Phoenix. She is employed in marketing at Kart Enterprises, Inc. in Lilburn.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Helen Lindenmuth and the late Jay Lindenmuth of Catawissa, Pa., and Rita Norwich and the late Joseph Norwich of Catawissa, Pa.

He is a 2002 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School in Elyria, Ohio. He graduated in 2005 from Darton College. He is employed as a paramedic by RMSI in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 19, 2013, at Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa.
