Lt. Cindy Mustachio has been promoted to 1st Lieutenant, Assistant Jail Commander by Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch.

Mustachio becomes the second female to serve in a command staff position in the Sheriff’s Office. The first was Judy Mecum, who served as captain in Criminal Investigations Division in 1992.

Mustachio has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2001, initially serving in the Court Services Division before transferring to the Jail Division, where she recently served as shift commander.

An officer since 1995, she served with police departments in Woodstock and Suwanee and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office prior to joining the Hall County office. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from North Georgia College & State University.

“1st Lt. Mustachio has already been a great asset to the department,” Couch said in a news release. “Her leadership skills, as well as her education and technical knowledge, are exactly what we are looking for in our new leaders. I’m confident that she will continue to excel and help us move the Sheriff’s Office forward.”

“The Sheriff’s Office has been very supportive of my efforts, and I’m grateful for the help I’ve received throughout my career to reach this point,” Mustachio said in the release. “I look forward to serving in this position and helping the department provide first rate law enforcement services to our community.”
