A new concept supermarket is celebrating a grand opening this week in Dahlonega.

Fresh n’ Frugal-Cost Plus Foods is now operating in the Greenbriar Shopping Center, where J&J Foods was previously located.

The store is designed to provide fresh produce, meats and other groceries at the lowest possible price, according to a news release from the company. Products are priced at cost and 10 percent is added at checkout to cover labor and overhead.

“The practical cost-plus pricing approach of Frugals provides a simplified shopping experience when compared to the multiple promotions and complicated offers found in most stores,” according to the news release. The company also said it is committed to buying products from local suppliers.

The grand opening will be today through Sunday and feature daily giveaways, store events and prize drawings, including a grand prize of free groceries for a year.

The 22,000-square-foot space has been updated and includes two large murals depicting the area’s gold mining history.

The store is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is managed by Store Director George Herb. More information can be found at www.freshnfrugal.com or the store’s Facebook page.
