Pro Bowl: Falcons safeties in, Matt Ryan out

POSTED: January 21, 2013 7:14 p.m.

FLOWERY BRANCH — Atlanta Falcons safeties Thomas DeCoud and William Moore have been added to the NFC roster for Sunday's Pro Bowl.

The NFL announced the moves Monday, one day after the Falcons' season ended with a 28-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game.

DeCoud led Atlanta with six interceptions and ranked second in the league among safeties in that category. Moore had 105 tackles, broke up eight passes and had four interceptions. Both are headed to the Pro Bowl for the first time.

The Atlanta duo replaces San Francisco safeties Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner, who will be preparing for the Super Bowl in two weeks.

The Falcons also announced that quarterback Matt Ryan had dropped out of the Pro Bowl because of a sprained left shoulder.
