More rabies cases confirmed in Hall

POSTED: August 17, 2008 5:01 a.m.

Hall County’s 30th and 31st rabies cases for the year were confirmed Tuesday, more than triple the number of cases normally seen each year.

Two skunks and four domestic dogs came into contact Friday in the Pierce Road area in East Hall. The skunks were shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur, which confirmed on Tuesday that both skunks were positive for rabies.

The Gainesville-Hall County Animal Control Department will be going door to door in the area where the skunks were found. If you live in this area or see an animal acting strangely, contact animal control at 770-531-6830.
