POSTED: January 11, 2013 1:00 a.m.

On behalf of the entire Gainesville City Schools family, we thank the Gainesville and Hall County community for the remarkable support we received during our successful quest for the state Class AAAAA football championship. We congratulate Coach Bruce Miller, his coaching staff and the team on the hard work and determination that resulted in our bringing home the championship to Gainesville.

Behind this victory are so many people that made it possible. Thank you to the businesses and individuals who have supported Gainesville High School’s endeavors for many years. Thank you to the youth football coaches for Gainesville Park and Recreation and the Boys and Girls Clubs who work together to ensure that our youth have a strong foundation.

Special appreciation goes to the parents and families of our coaches and players for supporting them. To the GHS Big Red Machine marching band, the cheerleaders, their sponsors, coaches and parents, we thank you for being an integral part of this experience. To the faculty of Gainesville City Schools, thank you for supporting and caring for all of our students and helping them to achieve their goals and dreams.

We particularly thank our neighboring Hall County schools who so graciously sent well wishes our way.

It is in our celebration of this victory that we recognize for how much we have to be grateful.

Big Red thanks you!

Merrianne Dyer
Superintendent, Gainesville City Schools
