Tax commissioner extends office hours

POSTED: January 9, 2013 10:59 p.m.

The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office has extended its hours.

The office will now be serving residents from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday. The office at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, was previously open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every weekday.

The change in operating hours coincides with Darla Eden’s beginning her term as tax commissioner. Eden was elected last year and replaces Keith Echols, who retired at the end of 2012.

“The slight change in operating hours stems from our desire to mirror the business hours of the departments housed in the Hall County Government Center where we are located,” Eden said. “Staying open later will most definitely give citizens more time and convenience as they conduct business with property and motor vehicle tax transactions. We will continue to evaluate the tax office hours and locations on an ongoing basis to best suit the needs of our citizens.”

The change in operating hours for the public went into effect Jan. 2, Eden’s first day in office.
