The driver of a tractor-trailer that collided with a school bus Thursday was charged with following too closely, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

William G. Thompson, 48, of Bremen rear-ended a school bus transporting 20 students home from Myers Elementary School near the intersection of Athens Highway and Barrett Road about 3 p.m. Thursday.

No one was seriously injured in the wreck, but both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
