Enjoy a bit of the Highlands this weekend at Jamie Laval’s Scottish Solstice Holiday Celebration.

The Saturday concert at Duluth’s Red Clay Theatre celebrates the music, dance and stories from the British Isles during the winter holidays.

Headlining the show is Asheville-based violinist and storyteller Laval, weaving a tapestry of music, dance and stories that hearkens back to the ancient Celtic celebrations associated with the winter solstice and Christmas.

In 2002, Laval won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship and has performed for the queen.

His recent album “Murmurs and Drones” won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards.

Joining Laval is an impressive lineup of acclaimed Celtic performers, including: EJ Jones, one of the finest bagpipers the U.S. has ever produced; David Brown, beloved Irish-style baritone guitarist and banjoist from Asheville; and Rosalind Buda, an elegant performer of bassoon, Scottish smallpipes, and an ancient wind instrument from Brittany known as the bombarde.
