Gainesville veterinarian elected president of state association
Gainesville veterinarian Denise Funk was elected president of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association during the group’s fall convention.
Funk is a partner at Animal Medical Care of Gainesville. She has practiced veterinary medicine for more than 20 years in her native Hall County.
Funk’s degrees include an associate degree from Gainesville College, Bachelor of Science from Berry College, Master of Science from University of Georgia, and a doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University Of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
In addition to her new appointment, Funk is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Animal Hospitals. She is a member of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and volunteers with several local organizations.
Funk and her husband Gary live in Gainesville with their two children.

Harry Norman Realtors expand local office, hire 40 new agents
Harry Norman Realtors Forsyth County/Lake Lanier office has announced the expansion of its office serving Forsyth, Dawson, Hall and Lumpkin counties. The office on Market Place Boulevard in Cumming will add space for 25 additional agents after hiring 40 agents in the first year of operation.
Robert Aiken, senior vice president and managing broker, announced the expansion during groundbreaking ceremonies at the site.
“We have met our expectations in just one year and for see the beginning of the recovery in the North Atlanta, North Georgia real estate market,” Aiken said. “We are positioning Harry Norman Realtors to help our clients and agents to take the lead for the next decade.”
The office is expected to be completed and open by Jan. 1.
