Dawson County boys win 8th of season

The Dawson County boys basketball coasted to its eighth consecutive win, 67-29 over Chattahoochee on Saturday at the Columbus Shootout tournament in Columbus.

The Tigers (8-0) were led by Gunnar Armstrong (13 points) Lucas Pain (11) and Will Anglin (11). Landarious Taylor led Chattahoochee with 13 points.

Dawson County hosts Region 7-AAA rival White County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dawsonville.

BUFORD GIRLS 72, COLUMBIA 51: Camille Anderson scored 18 points and Kaela Davis added 16 as the Lady Wolves rolled Columbia Saturday in Buford. Kristina Nelson added 12 points for Buford (4-1), which plays Banks County on Friday in Buford.

WHITE COUNTY BOYS 64, JACKSON COUNTY 46: Spencer Adams scored 16 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Warriors past Jackson County on Saturday night in Jefferson. Rand Rowland added 13 points, and Eddie Hurst chipped in with 11 for White County (4-4, 0-1 Region 7-AAA). The Warriors visit Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 69, BROOKSTONE 25: Carly Gilreath scored 16 points to lead the Lady Tigers (7-1) to a tournament win, a day after scoring 20 in a 67-25 win over Schley County on Friday.

Ashley Parker added 14 points and Allie Costley 11 in the Saturday win.

Dawson County plays White County on Tuesday.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 50, EAST JACKSON 28: Haley Warner scored 14 points and Taylor Kennedy added 12 to lead the Lady Leopards on Saturday in Homer.

Banks County (7-1) plays Oglethorpe County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Lexington.

Wrestling

East Hall took third at the John Smith Mountain Classic on Saturday, with Felton Wood and Edward Vergara taking individual titles. Enrique Restrepo, Corey Reece, Kintavious Johnson and JD Holloway all finished second in their respective class, Tyler Thomas took third and Will Davidson fourth.

On Friday, East Hall defeated Murphy, N.C. 54-22 and Franklin County 42-35 before losing to Jackson County 51-21.

East Hall wrestles next Dec. 28-29 at the Amicalola Classic in Dawsonville.

CHESTATEE 3RD IN MADISON DUALS: The War Eagles went 4-1 in Saturday’s dual tournament, defeating Westside 66-18, White County 52-24, Washington-Wilkes 60-24 and Apalachee 48-35, and losing to Commerce 48-30.

Christian Zapatero recorded a pin in all five matches and Jose Reyes-Lavallee, Austin Donaldson and Joey Perez finished with three pins each.
