The Holly Theater Company presents family favorite

POSTED: December 12, 2012 6:20 p.m.

DAHLONEGA — The Holly Theater Company presents the holiday classic "It’s a Wonderful Life" on stage through Dec. 23 at the historic Holly Theater, 69 W. Main St., in Dahlonega.Performances begin at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The heartwarming holiday favorite is brought to life by theater veterans, both onstage and off, that have been active at the Holly Theater and other local venues throughout recent years.

Cumming native Gary Heffelfinger gives an honest and humble portrayal as George Bailey, the everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls.

When George decides that his loved ones and neighbors would be better off without him, Clarence, a guardian angel in the process of earning his wings, appears to show George his life has had a far greater impact than he could ever imagine.

With solid performances by other Cumming natives — Ginger Clark Rodriguez (Violet Peterson) and Derrel Emerson (Clarence), along with Dahlonega residents Beth Minnear (Mary Bailey), Jesse McWhorter (Sam Wainwright/Harry Bailey), and Debbi Hamm (Ma Bailey), and Justin Collins (Mr. Potter) of Gillsville — "It’s a Wonderful Life" brings the family charm that audiences expect from the timeless tale.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or online at, or reserved by calling 706-864-3759 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Mondays.
