Hartley Carter, representing the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, was crowned the 2012 Belle of the Ball Saturday night at the Gainesville-Hall County Junior League’s 61st annual Charity Ball.

Carter is a senior at Gainesville High School and daughter of Brad and Jennifer Puryear and Will and Deanna Carter. She is granddaughter of State Rep. Carl and Linda Rogers, and Jerry and Nelson Carter.

The 2012 Charity Ball serves as one of the Junior League’s major fundraisers.  The “Old Hollywood” themed evening featured music by the band Ascension, food and dancing and more. The annual event raises money for the Junior League, allowing the volunteer organization to support community agencies and projects.

This year six local civic groups sponsored belle candidates who were charged with raising money on behalf on the Junior League. As the highlight of the Charity Ball, the belle candidate who raises the most money is crowned Belle of the Ball.
