I’d like to commend the gentleman who planned to stand on top of Slack’s to raise the $10,000 for the Salvation Army. I’ve always donated to the annual Christmas fundraiser and thanked the people who took time and effort to stand out in the cold or rain to ring the bells.
My brother was in the National Guard and was called to Biloxi after Hurricane Camille hit. He told me that the Salvation Army was the first to arrive with hot coffee and food for the Guard, even before the Red Cross arrived.
Please keep this in mind as you make your holiday donations and ensure that the organizations you support are truly giving.
