Local golf: Team hits 23-under to win at Chicopee

Luke James, Len Kaper, Terry Clegg and Vince Jonte finished in first place with a score of 23-under par at last week’s Wednesday dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Roger Stapp, Cleve Sexton, Henry Komoto and Pat Reece came in second at 17-under par.

Individually, Jonte and Komoto tied for first with scores of 66, and Kaper was third with a score of 68.

CMGA: Jack Costello, Chuck Keith, Don Sorrell and Jim Griffin won the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two best ball, aggregated net points game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Bill Sutton, Bill Kinser, Bill Holleman and Roy Lyle, Gene Weschler, Jim Hollobaugh, A.J. Kiker and Rolf Legbandt, and Roger Miller, J.B. Johnston and Bob Layne all tied for second place.

Closest to the pin winners were Hollobaugh (No. 3, No. 5, No. 17) and Bob Pyne (No. 12).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Norm Phillips won Monday’s match, and James Roberts and Bob Arendt finished in second place. Dewey Alverson took first place on Wednesday, Terrence Dale came in second, and Roberts was third.

Roberts finished in first place on Friday, Doug Padgett was second, and Dave Jetter took third.

REUNION: Larry Yates took first place from the white tees and Richard Kreusch won on the Kreusch tees at the final ring score shootout on Wednesday at Reunion Country Club in Hoschton.
