Fall’s glorious colors have transformed into brown leaves strewn across yards.

But in the city of Gainesville, disposing of those leaves is easy. Residents should place them at their curbisde in long narrow piles along the back of the curb, removing any trash and sticks or limbs longer than eight inches. City street maintenance crews will then come by and suck up the leaves.

Portions of the city west and south of a line along Thomspon Bridge Road, Green Street and E.E. Butler Parkway are picked up the first and third week of each month. Portions north and east of that same line are picked up the second and fourth week.

Leaves should be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday of the designated week.

Pickup will continue through late January.
