Chellsy Vanessa Gomez, 15, represented Gainesville for the title of Miss Georgia Teen USA 2013 this week at the Woodland Performing Arts Theatre in Cartersville.Gomez is the daughter of Dr. Richard Gomez and Lori Lake. She is a sophomore at North Georgia Christian School and attends church at Good Shepherd Lutheran.

Lanier Tech recently recognized exceptional techs for National Radiologic Technology Week.

National Radiologic Technology Week is celebrated annually to recognize the imperative role of radiology professionals across the nation.

The celebration takes place each November to commemorate the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in 1895.

This weeklong celebration emphasizes the roles medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in delivering safe patient care and optimal health care.

NRTW, celebrated this year from Nov. 4-10, is sponsored by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

This year’s results were a four-way tie. The techs recognized were:

Myron "Will" Williams, Radiologic Technologist, Northeast Georgia Medical Center;

Amy Smith, RT (R)(CT), Chestatee Regional Hospital and Chestatee Dawson Clinics;

Ron Wilkinson, RT (R), Northeast Georgia Imaging Center of Gainesville;

Jennifer Hamon, RT (R), Stephens County Hospital.
