Gainesville City Council discussion focuses on job creation

POSTED: November 15, 2012 8:34 p.m.

Gainesville City Council members talked Thursday about what they can do to help create jobs.

The discussion happened after both items on the work session agenda — assistance grant acceptance and sanitary sewer extension — were approved for the next council meeting agenda.

Mayor Danny Dunagan said bickering at the federal level was the root of the problem with jobs.

In an unrelated topic, Dunagan also suggested the city should consider closing down to better honor Veterans Day next year.

The council meets next at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
