Commerce back in state football playoffs

POSTED: November 13, 2012 1:20 p.m.

Commerce is back in the state playoffs for the 16th consecutive year, taking the No. 13 seed in the Georgia High School Association Class A public school tournament.

The Tigers (5-5) will play at No. 4 seed Seminole County (8-2) on Nov. 23.

The GHSA is in the first year of a public-private split for the playoffs, with the top 16 schools from each division being chosen based on a power ranking system. Final results were announced Tuesday.

Commerce, which was hampered by injuries in the second half of the season, went just 1-5 in Region 8-A, but got a ratings boost by defeating four teams from higher classifications.
