Shoulder work under way on I-985; delays expected

POSTED: November 7, 2012 10:49 p.m.

Interstate 985 motorists can expect delays as Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance workers are performing shoulder rehabilitation work along a 10- to 12-mile stretch.

“They’re trying to do about two miles a day,” said Jill Goldberg, DOT spokeswoman. “... They will be out there in the mornings doing that (work).”

The rehab effort is taking place in the inside shoulder of southbound I-985, requiring a lane closure, Goldberg
said.

Work, which took place at Friendship Road/Lanier Islands Parkway on Wednesday, is expected to continue today and then next Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting, she said.

Then, there will be “no more on that maintenance until after Thanksgiving,” Goldberg said.
