A cold rainy Wednesday may bring us a taste of winter tonight: the National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for North Georgia.
The advisory is in effect from 3-9 a.m. Thursday morning, when temperatures are forecast to drop into the low to mid-30s in the region.
Residents are advised to bring in or protect plants that may be harmed by frost.
Temperatures have struggled to reach the high 40s today under cloudy skies. So far, less than a tenth of an inch of rain has been recorded at the NWS automated station at Gainesville’s Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport. Tuesday, three-quarters of an inch of rain was recorded from around midnight through the lunch hour.
Sunny skies and a slight warming trend will return following the morning chill, with highs expected to reach 59 on Thursday and 65 Friday, with a nice weekend to follow.
