Gainesville attorney Brim named Fellow by American College of Trial Lawyers
James E. Brim III of Gainesville has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.
Brim is a partner in the firm of Forrester & Brim in Gainesville. He has served as president of the Gainesville-Northeastern Bar Association, and has been practicing in Gainesville since 1979. He is an alumnus of The University of Georgia School of Law.
The induction ceremony took place before an audience of 1,070 during the recent annual meeting of the College in New York, N.Y. Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and extended only to experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years of trial experience to be considered for Fellowship.
There are currently approximately 5,838 college members in the United States and Canada.
Physicians Reisman, McDonald chosen state leaders with Medical Assocation
Two Gainesville area physicians were sworn into office in key leadership positions with the Medical Association of Georgia during its annual House of Delegates meeting Oct. 21 in Savannah.
Andrew B. Reisman, M.D., was elected to the position of second vice president and E. Frank McDonald, M.D., was elected to a third term as vice speaker of MAG’s House of Delegates.
Reisman is a family physician with The Longstreet Clinic in Oakwood. McDonald is a neurologist with The Longstreet Clinic in Gainesville.
“It says a lot about the caliber of the physicians we have in North Georgia,” said Jack M. Chapman Jr., M.D., of Gainesville Eye Associates, who served as MAG’s president in 2007-2008. “And it should give our residents some great peace of mind knowing they have access to some of the best medical care in the world.”
With more than 7,000 members, MAG is the leading voice for the medical profession in Georgia.

Gainesville’s Watkins chosen by state association as Chiropractor of the Year
Mary Watkins, D.C., of Gainesville was named the Georgia Chiropractic Association’s Chiropractor of the Year on Oct. 19 during the association’s 100th annual Fall Conference & Trade Show.
Watkins’ award is the highest honor bestowed by GCA.
“Mary created an ambassador program at our conferences to make attendees feel welcome, and she spearheaded our membership drive this year, which has resulted in nearly 100 new members,” said Mark Cotney, D.C., last year’s recipient of the award.
Watkins recently was appointed to the Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners by Gov. Nathan Deal.
“GCA is an important part of my life,” Watkins said. “Serving GCA is serving chiropractic.”
