Fallen tree in Gainesville caused brief power outage

POSTED: October 30, 2012 11:59 p.m.

Some 2,260 customers in the downtown Gainesville area were without power briefly Tuesday morning.

The outage took place at 9:55 a.m. and lasted about 15 minutes, according to Georgia Power spokesman John Kraft.

The problem stemmed from a tree on a power line.

“We were able to clear it very rapidly,” Kraft said.

Georgia Power was generally busy Tuesday with power calls, thanks to high winds causing havoc to utility lines.

“We had scattered outages across the state,” Kraft said.
