Traffic on Ga. 53 at Thompson/Etowah River Road will not be shifted today as planned.
Temperatures have been too low to conduct the asphalt work needed prior to shifting traffic, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Temperatures must be in the 50s and 60s for the specified work, said Harold Mull, DOT district construction engineer.
DOT will reschedule.
The project includes constructing turn lanes on Ga. 53 and changing the grade on all four roadways to improve sight distance, according to a news release from DOT. The $2.7 million project is set to be completed June 30, 2013, and Baldwin Paving Co. of Marietta is the contractor.
