Buford volleyball falls in 3rd round to Oconee County

Maggie Roper led Buford with 21 kills, 19 digs and a pair of aces in a five-game, state-quarterfinals loss to Oconee County on Saturday in Watkinsville. After splitting the first four games, Oconee County prevailed in the fifth 15-13.

The Lady Wolves opened with a 25-16 win, followed by 25-15 and 25-22 losses. Buford won the fourth game 25-19. Also for Buford, Bree Horrocks had seven kills and four blocked shots. Sydney Steinlage had six kills for the Lady Wolves and Tori Payton finished with 35 assists and six digs.

Mikhayla Riegel chipped in 19 digs and three aces for Buford. With the loss, Buford’s season is now finished.
