Prosecution continues in Kipp trial

POSTED: October 25, 2012 11:30 p.m.

Prosecutors continued to lay out their case against a mother facing charges related to her 18-month-old’s June 2011 death.

Deanna Renee Kipp is on trial for one count of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, four counts of cruelty to a child in the first degree, two counts of providing false statements to police and one count each of aggravated assault, cruelty to a child in the second degree and concealing the death of another.

On Wednesday prosecutors played a video in which Kipp’s eldest daughter spoke about Kaylee Kipp’s death. The girl said, in the recording, that Kaylee stayed in her crib until 911 responders arrived.

“No one touched her,” she said as she colored.

The girl also talked about spankings from Stephen Clark West, Deanna Kipp’s boyfriend. In August, Superior Court Judge Andrew Fuller sentenced West to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 20 years, in the June 2011 death of Kaylee Kipp.

The trial resumes again today.
