Early voting continued to draw a crowd Tuesday at the Hall County Elections Office off Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.

Since early voting began on Oct. 15, the office has been averaging a turnout of at least 1,000 voters daily.

According to Charlotte Sosebee, director of elections and chief registrar, the number has increased each day, and that trend is expected to continue.

“I think every day the number will grow, and so far, it has,” Sose-bee said. “We did around 1,100 last Thursday, 1,200 on Friday and 1,300 on Monday, so the number is growing.”

The total number of voters reached 6,689 at the close of polls Monday.

Sosebee said the longest voting lines averaged a wait time of about 30 minutes.

Additionally, the office’s new Browns Bridge Road location in Gainesville has received praise.

“... We’ve had great feedback from everyone about the new location,” Sosebee said.

This Saturday will be the only weekend day for early voting before the Nov. 6 general election. Polls at the Hall County Elections Office will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

Sosebee expects the turnout Saturday will be high.

Red Thomas, a Hall County resident and early voter, had compliments for the early voting process.

“I think the Browns Bridge location is great, and the office is very nice,” he said. “The elections employees have been on top of things and kept the line moving. There’s really not been much griping; people are out here to make sure their voice is heard and their vote gets counted, and for that, we’re willing to wait in a little line.”

Voters are deciding on issues that include national, state and local races, as well as two proposed constitutional amendments.

Early voting will continue through Nov. 2 at the elections office.
