Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has chosen Jay Kemp as the 2013 Featured Painter, marking 31 years of excellence in wildlife art, conservation and the sporting life. .

With artistic mastery far beyond his years, Kemp’s work is highly sought after by art connoisseurs for its perfection of detail, exquisite coloration and unique style that juxtaposes illusion and emotion with super realism. A collegiate baseball player and graduate of North Georgia College, he began his career as a professional artist in 1991.

Among several other best of shows and excellence awards, Kemp was chosen as an "artist to watch" by U.S. Art Magazine and won the Nature Works art show’s "Award of Excellence."

For 30 years, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has proudly presented the finest in wildlife art, conservation and the sporting lifestyle. The 31st annual SEWE will be held in multiple venues throughout downtown Charleston, S.C. from Feb. 15-17. VIP events will begin Wednesday, Feb. 13. The wide variety of events and attractions offers something for art lovers and wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. SEWE draws approximately 35,000 attendees each year from across the nation.

 

Austin Montgomery, a senior at Lakeview Academy, was awarded his Eagle Scout in August.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 557.

His project was done at a Title I metro Atlanta elementary school included refurbishing an outdoor classroom, landscaping picnic area and donating money to the library for the purchase of new books.
