Turnout for early voting in Hall County was down just slightly Tuesday after more than 1,000 voters cast ballots on the first day.

The Hall County Elections Office had 1,038 early voters Monday, the largest number Director of Elections and Chief Registrar Charlotte Sosebee said she has seen.

“I’ve seen a lot of first-time voters, those in their late 60s registered to vote and even naturalized citizens, who are out voting for the first time today,” she said.

The office recently moved from its old location to the new office at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road, and Sosebee said there have been no problems thus far.

“People are having to walk to get to our new office; we’re not a front-door office like we were before. But everybody seems excited about coming to our new facility,” Sosebee said. “I haven’t heard any complaints that I’ve heard in the past.”

Early voting continues through Nov. 2, and there is Saturday statewide voting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27.

Beyond national and statewide races, voters in the 9th District also will decide who will represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives.
