The Chestatee High volleyball team won three matches Saturday in the Area 8-AAAA tournament at Lanier High in Sugar Hill, earning the No. 3 seed to the state tournament. Qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in school history, the War Eagles will visit Dalton at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the Class AAAA state playoffs.
In the Area tournament, Chestatee started with a win against Monroe Area (23-25, 25-22, 25-16), lost to eventual champion Johnson (25-23, 25-12), beat Madison County (25-13, 25-14), beat Lanier (25-19, 25-22) and lost the final match to Johnson (25-21, 25-21).
