Local golf: Morris leads at Chicopee Sr. Championship

Leader shot a 69 on Saturday in two-day event

Keith Morris carded a 3-under 69 on Saturday and leads by one shot at the Chicopee Woods Senior Championship  in Oakwood. The two-day tournament concludes Sunday.

After the first day, Walter Hope and Jim Foote are tied for second at 70. Gerry Grogan is in fourth place with an even par 72.

Paul Gibson leads the first flight with a 73, and Billy Schrader is second with a 75. In the second flight, Geoff Archibald leads with a 75, while Rodney Case is second at 78.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three best ball, aggregated net strokes game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Jack Costello, Carlyle Cox, Stu Virgin and Jimmy Johnson and Gene Weschler, Larry Cohan, A.J. Kiker and Wayne Nelson tied for first place. Tom Cleveland, Bob Henderson, Butch Teston and Harmon Smith finished in third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Paul Payne (No. 3), Cox (No. 5), Costello (No. 12) and Dick Bachman (No. 17).
