Riverside Military Academy won the conditioning course event at the annual JROTC Raider Meet on Saturday in Gainesville. Riverside hosted 25 Georgia Army JROTC schools with a total of 58 teams at the event.
The competition consists of three divisions: male teams, female teams, and mixed teams. Each team competed in five events. The five events for this meet included a three-mile team run, a physical fitness test consisting of two minutes of push-ups and two minutes of sit-ups, a cross-country 100-pound litter carry, a conditioning course consisting of eight obstacles over a half-mile course, and the one-rope bridge competition in which teams build their own bridge, cross the bridge with all 10 cadets, and tear the bridge down afterward for a team time.
Stephens County took first place overall in the boys. Elbert County took first place in the male physical fitness test, Stephens County won the boys one-rope bridge competition and the cross-country litter carry, and Osborne finished in first place in the three-mile team run.
In the girls competition, Winder-Barrow won the division. Osborne won the physical fitness test and the three-mile team run, Cedar Shoals took the one-rope bridge competition, and Winder-Barrow won the conditioning course and the litter carry.
The first-place winners for the mixed teams division were Alexander in the physical fitness test, Elbert County in the one-rope bridge test, North Forsyth in the three-mile run, Creekview in the conditioning course, and Adairsville, which took first overall in the division, in the litter carry.
