Lumpkin County edges Walnut Grove, 13-12

Lumpkin County slipped past Walnut Grove 13-12 on Friday night in Loganville.

Brad Womack had an interception for the Indians late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Walnut Grove struck first in the game, taking a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with a failed 2-point conversion, but Indians quarterback Daniel McCrary put Lumpkin County (1-4, 1-1 Region 8-AAAA) up 7-6 with a 6-yard scoring run.

Walnut Grove scored again to take a 12-7 lead with another failed 2-point conversion, but Lumpkin County retaliated with an 80-yard scoring drive in the fourth quarter that ended with a 25-yard touchdown pass from McCrary to Jonathan Gilreath. The Womack interception that followed sealed the game.

The Indians return to action against Madison County next Friday in Dahlonega.
