High school scoreboard: Sept. 27

Anna Walker had 18 service points, 16 kills and eight aces for Gainesville in wins over Salem (25-13, 25-9) and Eastside (25-18, 25-12) on Thursday in Conyers.

Kaylin Walden recorded 26 assists, 16 service points and four aces for the Lady Red Elephants (27-8, 7-1), and Grace Miller had 13 service points, three blocks and a pair of kills.

Gainesville travels to North Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville.

JOHNSON TAKES PAIR: Kelly Chance led the Lady Knights with 11 aces and 18 assists in wins over West Hall (25-16, 25-15) and Lanier (25-14, 25-13) on Thursday in Sugar Hill.

Lindsey Anderson added 12 digs and three kills for Johnson (21-10, 5-1), and LeJavian Ratliff tallied four aces, four digs and a pair of kills. Savannah Turk had six kills and a pair of aces.

Johnson returns to action against Buford and Chestatee on Tuesday in Oakwood.

For West Hall, LeNiesha Kearse had 10 kills, nine digs, six aces and three blocks in the loss to Johnson and a win over Lanier (25-23, 25-20).

Laykin Herford added 21 assists for the Lady Spartans (20-14, 3-3), and Carrie Ruis had five digs and eight kills. Kelsi Jones tallied eight kills and six aces on the night.

West Hall plays host to Cedar Shoals, East Hall and Mill Creek on Tuesday in Oakwood.

EAST HALL SPLITS AT HOME: Brittney Campbell led the way for East Hall with 45 assists, 14 points on serve, 13 digs, three kills and a pair of aces in a win over East Jackson (25-15, 25-14) and a loss to Winder-Barrow (16-25, 25-20, 25-22) on Thursday in Gainesville.

Kara Hix contributed 55 digs, 15 service points and three aces for the Lady Vikings (19-12, 2-4), and Tarryn Long had 26 kills, 13 digs, seven points on serve and two aces.

East Hall travels to West Hall for a quad-match with Mill Creek, Cedar Shoals and West Hall on Tuesday in Oakwood.

NORTH HALL DROPS TWO: Kristina Gregory’s 13 assists, seven aces, and six-point service run weren’t enough for the Lady Trojans, who lost to Lambert (25-9, 25-20) and Chattahoochee (25-9, 25-22) on Thursday in Cumming.

Sydney Cleveland added 13 digs and six kills for North Hall, and Sarah Yoder had five kills and four blocks. Allie Staub recorded six digs and four kills, and Andi Fleming had seven digs and a pair of aces.

North Hall plays host to Gainesville on Tuesday.

LAKEVIEW SPLITS TRI-MATCH: Katie White had 17 digs, seven kills and an ace for Lakeview in a win over Lumpkin County (25-23, 27-25) and a loss to Habersham Central (25-16, 25-19) on Thursday in Mount Airy.

Katie Gay had nine kills and four digs for the Lady Lions. Delaney Jarrett contributed 12 assists and Samantha Versteeg added 14 digs.

Lakeview faces Athens Christian on Tuesday in Athens.

JEFFERSON BEATS CHESTATEE: Sarah Wood recorded 30 kills, seven digs and four aces for Jefferson in a win over Chestatee (25-21, 25-19) and a loss to Hart County (27-25, 22-25, 25-7) on Thursday in Jefferson.

Grace Williamson tallied 19 assists, four kills, four aces and three digs for the Lady Dragons (26-13), and Paige Watson added 17 assists and three aces.

Jefferson will take on Lakeview and Cedar Shoals next Thursday in Jefferson.

JEFFERSON SWEPT AT QUAD-MATCH (TUESDAY): Although Wood tallied 33 kills, 13 digs and four aces, Jefferson fell to Rabun County (25-23, 14-25, 25-22), Greater Atlanta Christian (25-17, 25-17) and Wesleyan (25-7, 25-15) on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Williamson recorded 29 assists, four aces and three digs for the Lady Dragons, and Watson added 29 assists of her own along with six digs and a pair of aces.

Softball

Noah Sudderth and Remington Hasty each had a home run in the second inning for Buford in an 8-4 win over Rockmart on Thursday at Kennesaw State University.

Drew Puckett was 2 for 3 with four RBIs for the Lady Wolves (20-2), Hasty tallied two RBIs, and Sudderth had an RBI. Baylee Sexton and Jordan Deep each had a hit with two runs scored.

Buford begins play in the 7-AAA Region Tournament against the No. 7 seed East Hall at noon on Saturday at East Hall Park in Gainesville.

Cross Country

Chestatee took the top spot in both boys and girls team events at the Region 8-AAAA preview run at Williams Mill Park on Thursday in Flowery Branch. Johnson’s Luis Castaneda was the overall winner for the boys with a time of 19 minutes, 13 seconds. Tori Mullinax of Chestatee came in first in the girls’ run with a time of 22:31.

Chestatee’s Jose Reyes-Lavallee finished third overall in 19:41, and his teammate Sara Beth English took second in the girls’ race with a time of 22:32.
