WonderQuest kicks off the year with ‘The Frog Prince’

POSTED: September 27, 2012 12:31 a.m.

Hop along Sept. 28 through Oct. 6 to WonderQuest’s magical adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale “The Frog Prince.”
WonderQuest is the young audiences division of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, a nationally acclaimed collaboration between Gainesville State College, Brenau University, theater professionals and the Northeast Georgia community.

While Princess Mirabella’s father is anxious for her to evaluate suitors and make a choice, she is focused on the study of her beloved plants. But things change when she meets a curious talking frog, who seems to speak her language. Enter the meddling of a flamenco-dancing Fairy Godmother, and nothing goes as planned.

The princess and her froggy friend will perform in Brenau’s Pearce Auditorium, an 1890s opera house located at 500 Centennial Circle in Gainesville. There also will be a free meet-the actors event following performances on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2, and a free creative arts workshop before the performance on Oct. 5.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28-30 and Oct. 5-6; 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 with school matinees at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27-30 and Oct. 2-5.

Tickets are $10-12 for adults and seniors or $7-8 for students, depending on seat location. Select seats online at www.gainesvilletheatrealliance.org or by calling the box office at 678-717-3624.
