Young Harris soccer rallies for win

Young Harris College rallied for two second-half goals to take a 2-1 men’s soccer non-conference victory over Georgia Gwinnett College on Sunday at the Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field in Young Harris.

Ilija Ilic scored his fifth goal of the season for the 6th-ranked Mountain Lions (7-1) on a assist from and Niall McCabe, and Andreas Pechmann converted a penalty kick for the go-ahead goal.

The Mountain Lions return to action at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C.

BRENAU 4, SPRING HILL 1 (Saturday): Esther Anyanwu scored twice for the Golden Tigers, and Flowery Branch grad Kayla Madsen and Jenny Knibbs added goals for Brenau on Saturday.

Rifle

Casadie Bragg took home individual honors in the three-position smallbore match and teamed up with Luke Duncan, Kyle Bailey and Sarah Howell to set a new school record for the North Georgia College & State University mixed rifle team Saturday at Fort Benning.

The team finished second overall in the season opener behind nationally-ranked Columbus State University.

Bragg also finished fifth overall in the air rifle.

The Saints return to action at 8 a.m. Saturday when they host the two-day season-opening air rifle tournament in Dahlonega for the Southeastern Rifle Conference.
