Jessica Leigh Johnston and Hal Franklin Higgins were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Sept. 15, 2012, at Lake Burton Club in Clayton. The bride is the daughter of Eleanor Dahlin of Atlanta, and Richard Johnston of Marietta. The groom is the son of Don and Sally Higgins of Cornelia.

The Rev. Dr. Eric Spivey performed the ceremony. The Georgia String Ensemble presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride’s sister Veronica Johnston Drumheller of Alpharetta, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Nichole Srott of Denver, Colo., Jennifer Smith of Augusta, Julia Weart of Gainesville, Nikki Campbell of Summerville, S.C., and Corrie Kirk of Newnan. The groom’s nieces Mallory Higgins of Cornelia, and Haley Hulsey of Clarkesville were the flower girls.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother D. Higgins of Cornelia, and friends Nick Phillips of Atlanta, Justin Purvis of Valdosta, Ray Cirone of Atlanta, Dan Dyke of Orlando, Fla., and Dan Burnett of Athens. The groom’s nephews Aubrey Higgins of Cornelia, and Hayden Hulsey of Clarkesville, were the ring bearers.

Signature Weddings and Events was the wedding coordinator. Melissa Cason was the reader in the wedding.

The bride carried a sixpence, given by the groom’s mother, in her shoe.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Waterfall Grille at the Lake Burton Club in Clayton, on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at Lake Burton Club in Clayton, following the ceremony.

The couple reside in Atlanta.
