West Hall's Nelson gets 400th win

West Hall softball coach Joe Nelson recorded his 400th win as the Lady Spartans defeated Cross Keys (25-12, 25-3) and lost to St. Pius X (25-14, 25-19) on Tuesday in Atlanta.

Laykin Herford had 19 assists for West Hall (15-8, 3-3) and Kelsi Jones added 14 kills. Emily Grainger had eight digs, and Carrie Ruis had eight aces.

West Hall travels to Habersham Central for a tri-match with the Raiders and Hart County on Thursday in Mount Airy.

JOHNSON WINS PAIR: Savannah Turk led Johnson with 11 kills, eight digs and a pair of aces in wins over Madison County (25-17, 25-14) and Lumpkin County (25-9, 25-8) on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Kelly Chance recorded 11 assists and a pair of aces for the Lady Knights (15-6, 3-1), and Lindsey Anderson tallied six digs.

Johnson returns to action against Jefferson and Flowery Branch on Thursday in Oakwood.

CHESTATEE SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: Madison Dunn recorded 18 assists on the night as Chestatee beat Walnut Grove (30-28, 25-14) and Eastside (25-23, 25-11) on Tuesday in Gainesville. Haley King had four kills for the Lady War Eagles (3-2 in area play) and Grace Brown had seven aces. Melanie Smith added 10 kills.

Chestatee travels to Flowery Branch for a play date on Saturday in Flowery Branch.

GAINESVILLE BEATS HERITAGE: Kaylin Walden led the Lady Red Elephants with 27 assists and four aces with 14 service points in two wins over Heritage (25-21, 25-15 and 25-23, 25-18), the second a region match, on Tuesday in Conyers.

Anna Walker added 15 kills with eight service points for Gainesville (18-6, 5-1), and Stasha Hopkins recorded nine kills.

Gainesville travels to Oconee County for a quad-match on Sept. 27 in Watkinsville.

JEFFERSON WINS TWO: Grace Williamson had 18 assists, seven aces and six kills for the Lady Dragons in wins over Cedar Shoals (25-16, 25-17) and Clarke Central (25-22, 25-19) and a loss to North Oconee (27-25, 25-17) on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Sarah Wood tallied 27 kills, eight digs, four assists, three aces and two blocks for Jefferson (19-7), and Avery Mixon had seven aces and a pair of digs. Amanda Flowers added 12 kills, seven aces and three digs, and Daniela Franco recorded 11 kills and three aces.

Jefferson will play a tri-match with Johnson and Flowery Branch on Thursday in Oakwood.
