Hall County authorities have arrested a man who admitted setting fire to his house early Tuesday on Clarks Bridge Road.
Pedro Gonzales-Rodriguez, 42, turned himself in Tuesday afternoon, Hall County Fire Services said in a news release. He is owner of the home in the 3600 block of Clarks Bridge Road that burned overnight. He has been charged with one count of first-degree arson and was booked into the Hall County Jail, authorities said.
Gonzales-Rodriguez told authorities he set the fire due to recent financial and personal difficulties. He was placed under arrest by Hall County Fire Services investigators at the scene.
Hall County fire crews responded to the blaze at approximately 1:17 a.m. Tuesday, called in by a passer-by. The 2,000-square-foot home was deemed a total loss.
Fire investigators determined that the fire appeared to be suspicious, but had been unable to locate the owner to question him. Gonzales-Rodriguez came to the residence later that afternoon and called 911 stating that he had set the fire and wanted to turn himself in, authorities said.
