The No. 20-ranked North Georgia College & State women’s soccer team continued its hot start to the 2012 season Sunday, knocked off the No. 16 Rollins College 1-0 in the West Florida Tournament in Pensacola, Fla.
Just nine minutes in, Saints’ freshman forward Sophia Matonak scored her second collegiate goal off an assist by senior Abby Trevino.
North Georgia freshman goalkeeper Mallory Sayre made 12 saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the year.
The Tars, who defeated North Georgia 3-0 in an exhibition match last season, out-shot the Saints 20-7 on Sunday.
The Saints (5-0) play at 6 p.m. at Carson-Newman College on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
