Local college scoreboard: Sept. 7

Abby Trevino scored the lone goal for North Georgia College & State University as the women’s soccer team beat Florida Southern College 1-0 on Friday at the West Florida Tourmanent in Pensacola, Fla.

The Saints (4-0) outshot Florida Southern 15-14, and freshman goalkeeper Mallory Sayre made six saves for North Georgia.

The Saints continue play in the tournament against Rollins College on Sunday in Pensacola.

YOUNG HARRIS 3, FLORIDA SOUTHERN 1: Niall McCabe’s hat trick propelled the Mountain Lions (3-0) over Florida Southern on Friday in Pensacola, Fla.

McCabe’s first goal came in the 14th minute of play, followed by another with only nine seconds left in the first half. The Lions lead increased to 3-0 on McCabe’s third goal with 12 minutes left in the game.

Young Harris outshot Florida Southern 20-5 throughout the match.

PIEDMONT COLLEGE 1, TOCCOA FALLS 0 (THURSDAY): Sidney Smith netted an unassisted goal in the 60th minute to lead Piedmont’s men’s soccer team to a win on Thursday in Toccoa.

Smith led the way for Piedmont (1-1) with a team-high seven shots on goal as the Lions outshot Toccoa Falls 23-2 in the game.

Piedmont returns to action against Oakwood University on Sunday in Demorest.
