The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that may lead to clues in the slaying of a Gainesville teenager.
Hall County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking for a four-door passenger car from the late 1990s to early 2000s, possibly a Chevrolet or Dodge.
The car is light silver in color, with substantial front-end damage and a driver’s door that is either white or a lighter shade of silver.
They believe the car may have been in the area of Lake Lanier Club Apartments in the evening of Aug. 23, when they believe Hannah Truelove was killed.
Truelove, 16, a Gainesville High student, was found dead the following night in a wooded area behind the apartments near the shore of Lake Lanier.
Investigators believe the occupants of the vehicle may have important information that will aid the investigation.
The sheriff’s office is releasing few other details in the case but Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said there’s still a lot of information coming in.
“Some cases we’re not that fortunate,” he said. “Some of the information is good, some of it is not quite as useful, but we don’t discount anything. Because it may be that little bit of information that seems insignificant to someone that ends up being what breaks the case.”
Wilbanks said the Criminal Investigations Division is split into property and persons crimes, and of the persons investigators, the majority of them are devoting some if not most of their time to the Truelove case.
GBI investigators also are working on the case.
Anyone with information on this vehicle or further information about the case is asked to call the Hall County CID tip line at 770-503-3232, or the GBI tip line at 800-597-8477.
