High school scoreboard: Aug. 24

Flowery Branch senior Jessica Gunter pitched a complete game in a 9-3 win over North Cobb in the Lady Falcons’ opening game of Allatoona’s Buccaneers Bash in Acworth.

Madison Whitmire went 4 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Lady Falcons (7-5), and Lily Parks had a two-run double.

Flowery Branch was scheduled to play their second game of the tournament against Northwest Whitfield on Friday at 9 p.m.

WEST HALL 10, JOHNSON 2: Madison Tasker had a two-run double for the Lady Spartans (8-7) on Friday in Oakwood.

Carleigh Hulsey picked up the win from the mound. Susan Vasquez and Victoria Tuttle had two hits each.

West Hall faces Buford at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in Oakwood, while Johnson takes on Monroe Area on Tuesday in Gainesville.

UNION COUNTY 7, RABUN COUNTY 0 (THURSDAY): Shawanna Brown went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Panthers (8-2) on Thursday in Tiger.

Courtney Busbee and Carly Adams were both 1 for 3 with an RBI each for Union County.

Bailey Byers and Chelsey Cook combined for the win from the pitching circle.

The Lady Panthers face Jefferson on Tuesday in Blairsville.

Volleyball

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN FALLS TO CUMBERLAND (THURSDAY): The Lady Chargers fell to Cumberland Christian (25-23, 23-25, 25-14 and 25-20) on Thursday in Marietta.

Jordan Ball had five blocks for North Georgia (1-2) and Morgan Johnson added 24 assists.

The Lady Chargers return to action against Horizon Christian on Monday in Flowery Branch.
