Flowery Branch shuts out East Hall

Senior pitcher Jessica Gunter only gave up one hit for Flowery Branch (5-5) in a 16-0 win over East Hall in four innings on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Madison Whitmire went 3 for 3 for Flowery Branch with three RBIs, and Jessica Thomas was 4 for 4 with three singles and four RBIs.

The Lady Falcons return to action against Cedar Shoals on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 14, STEPHENS COUNTY 0 (TUESDAY): Taylor Turk went 2 for 2 at the plate for Lumpkin County with a pair of home runs and four RBIs on Tuesday night in Toccoa.

Turk, Morgan Wood and Allyson Gentry combined for seven hits and nine RBIs on the night.

Ashley Brown picked up the shutout win from the circle.

Lumpkin County plays host to Chestatee tonight in Dahlonega.

BANKS COUNTY 10, HART COUNTY 2 (TUESDAY): Taylor Kennedy hit a home run for Banks County on the first pitch of the game to spark the Lady Leopards to a win Tuesday night.

In the fourth inning, Kennedy had a double, Sabrina Porter followed with a single, and McKenna Rylee proceeded to hit a three-run home run for Banks County that secured the win.

Freshman Mallory Parson picked up the win from the circle, recording four strikeouts on the night.

Banks County plays host to Lakeview Academy tonight in Homer.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 6, UNION COUNTY 5 (TUESDAY): Hannah Hughes went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Panthers in a loss to Oglethorpe County in eight innings on Tuesday in Blairsville.

Shawanna Brown was 3 for 4 at the plate for Union County.

Union County visits Rabun County tonight in Tiger.

UNION COUNTY 9, GILMER 1 (MONDAY): Brown hit a grand slam and had four total RBIs to lead the Lady Panthers to a win Monday night in Ellijay.

Hughes went 3 for 4 for Union County and had a home run and an RBI, and Madison Rich was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Chelsey Cook pitched all six innings for the Lady Panthers and had three strikeouts.

Volleyball

The East Hall Lady Vikings swept a tri-match with Tallulah Falls and Lumpkin County on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

The Lady Vikings (8-3) beat Tallulah Falls in three sets (25-9, 22-25, 25-19) and defeated Lumpkin County in straight sets (25-18, 25-18).

Emily Roberts led East Hall with a 10-point service run against Tallulah Falls, along with three aces and three digs with 18 points on serve.

Emily Hoggard also had an eight-point service run against Tallulah with 14 points on serve for the night and 11 kills, seven digs and three aces.

Brittney Campbell had 25 assists, eight digs and eight aces for the Lady Vikings with 18 points on serve for the night.

Kara Hix had 17 digs, three aces and two kills with 11 points on serve.

East Hall face Johnson and Duluth in a tri-match on Aug. 30 in Oakwood.
