A busy local election season is mostly wrapping up today as voters cast ballots to fill the five seats that had no definitive winner in the July 31 general primary.

Runoff races in many hot contests remain, including those for the Republican nomination as U.S. representative in the 9th District, Hall County sheriff, Board of Commissioners chairman, tax commissioner and probate judge. Only the winner in the 9th District race faces Democratic opposition in November.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Voters can determine their voting status and polling precinct online.
