POSTED: August 16, 2012 12:05 a.m.

Former Arkansas Gov. and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will travel to Gainesville today, joining Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal in an effort to raise money for their party’s presidential nominee.

Huckabee will appear alongside Deal and Georgia’s first lady Sandra Deal at a fundraiser for Mitt Romney at the Robson Event Center in downtown Gainesville.

The event is scheduled to last from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Other state officials are also expected to be in attendance.

Huckabee, who won Georgia’s presidential primary in 2008, came to Georgia in 2010 to stump for Deal days before a runoff election for the Republican nomination.

Deal previously supported former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for this year’s GOP presidential nomination.

The event is private and ticket prices for today’s event range from $1,000 to $10,000.
