Mr. Roger Dennis Patterson and Mrs. Faith Rooks Patterson of Pullman, Wash., announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Elizabeth Marie Patterson to Mr. Barton Lane Mellott, son of Mr. Calvin Mellott Jr. and Mrs. Robin Mellott of Chapel Hill, N.C.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Rhuel Patterson and Mrs. Dorothy Patterson of Gainesville, and Mr. Harvey Rooks and Mrs. Betty Rooks of Gainesville.

She is a 2006 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, N.C.. She graduated in 2009 from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in management and sociology. She received a master’s degree from East Carolina University in business administration in 2012. She is employed as a business officer in the School of Pharmacy at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mellott Sr. of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Mrs. Shirley Ray and the late Mr. Butch Marlowe of Fairview, N.C.

He is a 2008 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, N.C. He graduated in 2012 from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. He is employed by Mellott Contracting in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The couple plan to wed Sept. 29, 2012, at Christ United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, N.C.
