Quinlan club meets to draw inspiration each Friday

POSTED: August 2, 2012 1:30 a.m.

If your muse seems to be ever elusive these days, you just might find it down at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center on Friday afternoons.

Beginning this week, the Quinlan — 514 Green St. NE in Gainesville — will host Friday Sketch Club from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

The $5-per-person sessions will feature the opportunity to draw inspiration from a live model.

Participants are invited to bring their own supplies, or purchase new ones from the Pen Dragon Fine Art Supply Store, located in the basement level of the Quinlan.

The goal of the sessions is to give artists of all skill levels an opportunity to let their creativity flow, so don’t look for an instructor to provide guidelines or restrictions.

On the last Friday of each month, the event takes a turn for the au naturale via the Full Monty Sketch Club, which features an undraped, nude model.

Admission for those sessions are $10 per person. Participants who are under the age of 18 will not be allowed to participate in the Full Monty without a signed parental consent form.

All artists, regardless of age, are invited to participate in the other sketch club meetings.
