POSTED: August 2, 2012 1:30 a.m.

The Peach State Mounted Shooters are saddled up and ready to wrangle a few prizes this weekend during the Bulldog Double Point Brawl and the Double Point Yellow Jacket Attack.

The events will take place at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center, 1855 Calvary Church Road in Gainesville.

The Bulldog brawl will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, while the Yellow Yellow Jacket attack will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday.

There’s no admission fee for either day.

During the mounted events, attendees can expect to see cowboys and cowgirls of all ages shooting at targets while navigating an obstacle course on horseback. The various timed competitions will call for the riders to take up revolvers, shotguns or rifles loaded with specially prepared rounds of blank ammunition.

The Peach State group is the Georgia chapter of the national Cowboy Mounted Shooters Association. Membership in the group is open to riders of all ages and skill levels.

Competitions are held throughout the year, which allows participants to accumulate points for awards and recognition on the state and national level.
