POSTED: July 31, 2012 9:32 p.m.

FORT MILL, S.C. — In his third start since being optioned from the Atlanta Braves on July 15, Randall Delgado led the Gwinnett Braves to a 7-2 win over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday.

Delgado worked six innings for his second straight win, scattering five hits and allowing just one earned run. He struck out 10 batters, including seven of the last 11 he faced.

The Knights jumped on Delgado early when Dan Johnson drove in Drew Garcia with an RBI single in the first inning. But Delgado settled down and didn’t allow another run the rest of the game.

The G-Braves took the lead in the third inning when Felix Pie drove in the first run on an RBI single and then came around to score on an RBI double by Josh Wilson. Gwinnett added run in the fifth on another RBI single by Wilson.

After allowing a single run in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to one run, the G-Braves put the game away in the ninth.

One run scored on a wild pitch before Pie drove in two more with a single. A wild pitch and an infield single by Wilson plated Pie to give the G-Braves an insurmountable 7-2 lead.

Stefan Gartrell added a hit in the game to increase his hitting streak to 11 games.

The G-Braves (51-61) and Knights (63-49) played each other 22 times this season, splitting the season series at 11 wins apiece.

Gwinnett has an off day today before opening a four-game series in Durham, N.C., against the Bulls on Thursday. Yohan Flande will get the call on the mound in the first game of the series.
